When Cakesie was a tiny baby, Gerber had a product called “Giggles and Grins Sweet Pea Baby Wash.” It made her smell sooooo good! After her bath, I loved to just cuddle her and inhale her sweet pea baby smell.
My husband, who typically gives Cakes a bath after supper, while I load the dishwasher, started a little ritual. He would bring her out to the kitchen after her bath, all bundled up in a towel, and say, “Here… smell this baby.” I would sniff her face and hair in a very exaggerated way (think large dog), and say “Mmmmmmm, you smell good!” She thought this was very funny and tickly, and she would giggle and, er…grin.
Gerber has now discontinued my favorite baby wash, and I can’t find it anywhere. I still have the last bottle we bought, with a teensy bit in the bottom. I’m keeping it, because the smell immediately transports me back in time, to Cakesie’s little baby days. Now we use Baby Magic baby wash, with “Soft Baby Scent,” so when my husband brings Cakes out to the kitchen for my inspection, I say, “Mmmmmmm….you have soft baby scent!”
