The Mystery of Pat….Solved!

So. In my poll, the majority of those who voted (66%) said that Pat was a boy, and you were….

RIGHT!

My friends, I’m proud to introduce you to my son, Daniel James.

We couldn’t get a better profile shot of him, because he was lying face down, with his little backside in the air.

I just assumed that I would have another girl, because our fertility doctor always said that girl embryos withstand the cryogenic freezing process better than boys, and Daniel (or DJ, as we’ve been calling him) was frozen for seven years. However in retrospect, I had an inkling that I might be carrying a boy, because from the beginning this pregnancy has felt different from my others. I just didn’t trust my instincts.

I guess this explains why my husband and I couldn’t come up with another girl name, huh? It was God’s way of telling us that we didn’t need to! And now I don’t feel bad about letting go of my baby girl clothes, because I wouldn’t be able to use them anyway.

We let Bee skip school and come along for the appointment, and she’s very excited because all along she’s hoped for a brother so she can “make him be the prince” when they play dress-up. Cakes doesn’t seem to accept that the baby is not a sister. She still insists that we’re having a girl.

I can tell that my husband is happy, because he’s been very silly (sillier than usual, even), and almost giddy with excitement all afternoon. I’m so thankful to our gracious Lord for giving me this opportunity, with my last baby, to raise a son. After seeing him today, I’m already completely in love.
