A Quick Note...

To say that if you're participating in my Christmas card exchange, my cards went out yesterday, so you should have them in a couple of days.

Also, tonight is my husband's company Christmas party, and I wanted to ask, am I the only one who feels like a giant dork at stuff like that? Maybe I'm just really bad at small talk, or maybe I'm just pregnant and crabby, but I'm anticipating all kinds of comments, like, "Haven't you had that baby yet?" and "Are you sure there isn't two in there?"

Ugh.

The party is at a "dueling piano bar," and I don't even know what that is. However, my husband assures me that there will be a huge spread, including cheesecake, so I'll just park myself by the buffet table and feed my face. Also, it is a child-free date night, which doesn't happen very often.

On an unrelated note, my husband and I have taken to calling each other "babe," because of this episode of "The Office."

Those of you who watch "The Office" obsessively, and have every episode on DVD, as we do, will remember that Michael and Jan called each other "babe" repeatedly all night long, even though it was pretty obvious that they couldn't stand each other.

We just do it because it's hilarious. Clearly, we need to get out more.

Heart the office.
I think my favorite episode is when Jim makes new name tags for everyone and Dwight gets a special one.
"This name tag is huge and my middle name is Kurt, not Fart."

Pregnancy opens you up for all kinds of stupid comments people wouldn't normally make. People have repeatedly asked me whether I am having my baby circumsized when he comes. How is my son's penis any of your business??? Or "Wow, your butt is getting so huge... it must be a girl!" EXCUSE me?!

Hi Heather - Nope, not alone in the "feel like a dork making small talk with people you may never see again." I never know what to say. Enjoy the buffet and the lack of kids! Kim

ooh dueling piano bars are so fun! well, at least i think so anyways. I hope you had fun at the party!! I am same way with being at these sort of functions, my DHs party is next week and i already asked him if we could skip the coctail hour and just show up in time for dinner. lol.

You guys will have fun, just because it is only the two of you laughing calling each other "babe' all night:), childfree.

I feel like a dork when I go to events like that, but when I'm with Mike...we are dorks, and it doesn't really matter...cause we have fun together no matter where we are.

Oh I knew there was a reason I liked you and your blog. Well, aside from all the other reasons I already did; my husband and I pretty much watch seasons 2-5 (we're too cheap to pay $20 for the five episodes that come on the first season!) on loop whenever we watch TV. This has been going on since...late August? I'm sure we need professional help or something, but it's just too funny to stop!

I have to tell you, I am orginally from Scranton, Pa. I absolutely love the Office! Everytime the beginning song comes on, I get a little nostalgic.

I got my card today!!!! The girls are adorable.

And I hate the company dinners. HATE them. They are always on my birthday weekend and I always want to ask for a pass on the party for my birthday, but I never do because Art loves them. Sigh.

I just don't get the office/company party thing. Let work be work and let me socialize with my friends. You are not a dork, either...they are awkward gatherings.

****raising hand**** me too, I am horrible at company parties. I have no clue on how to make small talk with people! Ugh. Hope you enjoyed the party!

And I heart The Office too. Funny stuff every single week!

Yes I always find hubby's work Christmas party awkward - even though I know the people he works with & get along well with them.
Hope you had a lovely evening though & the food was delicious!
Sorry never seen the office, but calling each other babe is so cute!

Nope, I have never watched it (except for a minute or two as I flip channels) but I have some friends who love it.

I never liked those office parties, either mine or my husbands. But, as you said, it was a free date night without the kids.

I just never liked making small talk with a bunch of strangers.

We did get your card yesterday (thank you)! It was so funny, my hubby was looking at the picture and your names and he says "I have no idea who these people are." Lol!

I just think that's so funny. I'll be sending our cards out soon.

My husband and I also LOVE The Office. Have you been watching Parks and Rec this season? Also VERY funny and a lot like The Office.
