I stumbled onto this blog and decided to look at this post thinking that it had something to do with making your own makeup or something to that effect, however when I saw what it was really about I started thinking about the last time I went through my own makeup. Well I just sat here and went through it all and I am getting rid of a gallon sized freezer bag of stuff that I never use! I don't ever get rid of this stuff and I hardly every wear it but my sister-in-law loves make up of every kind (she even gave me some of mine haha) so I think I will let her have a crack at it before I toss it out. Thank you so much for this post!

I think my make up collection at its largest was probably as big as your pared down collection (excluding nail varnish). I only ever wore it for special occasions and when I stopped (about half way through university) either nobody noticed or they were too polite to say anything so I threw it all out. My mum doesn't wear make-up and I just never really got into it the way other people seem to. When I was getting married my friends threatened to jump out at me in the aisle wielding make-up brushes as they thought it was really strange that I wasn't going to wear any! I do like this post though even though it is not really useful to me personally.

But I totally remember that book! And I agree 100% - everyone needs to read this book to figure out their best colors. You may be surprised at what you find.

I'm really impressed with your decluttering :) (although, I always am).

I found really cheap makeup at http://www.eyeslipsface.com/default.asp (E.L.F. makeup. Pretty much everything is $1!!) But...it's pretty much drug store quality. No big deal for me, since I don't use a lot anyway - but I thought I'd pass that along.

It can be very freeing, as a woman, to go through all of that mess and toss most of it. As we get to know who we are it helps us to make better decisions.
I no longer apply tons of makeup. I rarely apply any. When I want to jazz myself up a bit I use a little eyeliner and mascara. The products I use are organic and/or natural. I helps to keep me much healthier.

I wear make-up almost everyady, but it is mineral make-up and very light. I have never worn lipstick, but will wear chapstick instead. And I don't like eye shadow on me. It looks great on others, but just doenlt look right on me.

I really enjoyed "Frugal Beauty", but then I always enjoy your writing! I love all types of needlecrafts, and years ago would get "in the mood" to sew, crochet, cross stitch, etc. and would purchase supplies to do a particular project. Well, as a working Mom of two and wife to one, there is very little time for leisurely crafting. I would purchase these materials, then just knowing that they were in the closet, unused, would be a continual worry to me. I didn't throw them away because of the very reasons you mentioned today: I felt guilty that I had spent the money, and I did not want to admit to myself that I did so in error. Last weekend, I sorted all the materials, grouped them by project or type, and my husband dropped them off at our local help center so that perhaps someone will get some use out of them. It feels so much better to have them out of the house and off my mind, along with the guilt they represented for me. As for Bee, try not to worry too much. From your photos of her on the first day of school, it is obvious that she is very happy to be there, and as an added bonus, your closets look great! Have a blessed weekend.

I don't wear make-up much at all, only for particularly bad break-outs (a little MK foundation) and weddings.

I read the book Color-Me-Beautiful as a teen and it gave me permission to like colours that weren't necessarily in style, but that looked good on me.

I don't want to be a slave to the beauty industry, so my skin/body/haircare routines involve natural products that I don't have to spend mega dollars on, don't use loads of packaging and can be found cheap at the grocery store.
